Northbound tourists heading towards Rawang from Kuala Lumpur should stop by the Commonwealth Forest Park, which is located just beside the trunk road heading to Rawang from Jalan Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur.
Also known as Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel, this attractive park combines dense jungle with landscaped gardens, lakes, camping grounds, chalets, fountains, jogging tracks, hiking trails and other amenities to give visitors an idyllic choice for a green getaway.
Managed by the Forestry Department of Selangor, it is a lowland dipterocarp forest covering an area of more than 620 hectares, with a substantial portion of this designated as a recreational forest.
Ideal for kayaking and camping – there are four designated camping zones offering up to 51 camp sites located near two rivers and the main entrance.
Besides camping, those wishing to stay overnight should check out the privately-run Commonwealth Forest Park & Resort (Resort Taman Rimba Komanwel) located at the southeast of the park.
Capable of hosting large groups, the resort offers BBQs and boating activities, and there is also a cafe serving local delights, pizza, coffee and cake.
